Spring is in the air!

BRT-521

It is that time of year again, trees are blooming, days getting longer the water is warming and the bass are looking for a place to make beds. When all this is going on my go to bait is a red Rat L Trap. You just can’t go wrong with it.

I hit the secondary points in the major creek arms, locating ditches and drains on the spawning flats. The fish will use these as highways if you will. You will also want to be pretty close to deep water or the creek channel itself. The bass will tend to back out during the cold fronts during this time of year, when this happens my back up bait will be the trusty Carolina Rig.

When you have located a few bass on the trap slow down and work the area with a TX rigged lizzard, creature bait, jig, or even a wacky worm.
